St John’s is the Church of England parish church for Stoneleigh and in the Diocese of Guildford and in the local grouping of Epsom Deanery.. St John’s is in fellowship with Stoneleigh Churches (including Stoneleigh Baptist Church, Stoneleigh Methodist Church, St Clement’s RC Church and Auriol Fellowship). Stoneleigh Churches participate in community events and engage together in evangelism. The church building and parish centre are closed until further notice. Please stay at home. Although the church building is closed, our church in a wider sense is very much open! We use Zoom to worship together every Sunday morning. We also have an active Facebook page and WhatsApp group. Description of this historic site. The Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul was built during the Medieval period. Minor alterations have been made to the building up until modern times. The church is situated m south east of Kingsbury Hall.
HISTORY Downe church is not in the Domesday book, and was a chapelry of Hayes to the north. It was a small and relatively poor parish, which is reflected in the simplicity of the architecture.
